Hailey

Hey, hi, hello, I’m Hailey! (Hailey with an “i,” not a “y.”)
I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and moving to Lubbock to go to Texas Tech was the first time I had ever moved in my entire life. It was quite the change going from a big city in humid, south Texas to the dry, windy plains of west Texas. However, if I hadn’t made the move I wouldn’t be where I am today nor would I have discovered my passion for sports communications.

A few quirky and fun facts about me:
I love tacos,
I love growing succulents,
I’m currently saving up to get my first dog,
And I LOVE the San Antonio Spurs. (Yes, I cried when Tim Duncan retired.)

As other Hayley mentioned, we met through our sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. Over the years we have grown closer as Kappa sisters and friends through our PR majors and from our love of sports. Weird huh? Two Hailey/Hayley’s who are in the same sorority, have the same major, AND love sports? As you could imagine, I’m very thankful for this friendship.

When I first arrived at Texas Tech I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I figured I would head to the College of Media and Communications, since I love to talk, and I randomly chose to major in Public Relations and decided to wing it. Luckily, I have fallen in love with PR. I first took an advertising class to fulfill some of my elective requirements and quickly was hooked on the subject. I loved learning about the history of the industry and more about the design aspect of advertisements and their effects on society. After declaring Advertising as my minor, I decided to make it my second major!

My love of sports was a love that grew on me after several years. When I was 12, my mom passed away from breast cancer. Since then I have lived with my dad and my older brother. Growing up in a household with two boys meant a lot of time was spent watching sports. Football, basketball, soccer, you name it we watched it. I started playing sports in middle school and quickly found that I not only liked to watch sports but now I liked to play them. Over the years the “liking” of sports turned into a love.

In my free time, when I’m not in school or working, I love spending time outside. Whether it’s hiking, hunting, fishing, kayaking, or even just laying out by the pool, I crave being outdoors. I also love to read and travel!
