Patrick Mahomes: From A Red Raider to a Chief

Well, that time of year has rolled back around. We all wait nervously by our televisions waiting to see our favorite players make it big and our favorite teams grow with talent. Patiently anticipating that ticking clock to strike the 0:00 only to find out if history will be made.

I typically haven't watched the draft in the past because, let's face it, I have no idea who half of these guys are. But, last night was a special draft for this Red Raider and you better believe I was one of the fans waiting on my couch with sweaty hands and an uneven heartbeat waiting to hear one name.

Texas Tech's very own beloved quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, became a Kansas City Chief in the first round as the 10th pick of the 2017 NFL draft. *The crowd goes wild*

Mahomes, in my not so humble opinion, was underrated all season long. Texas Tech may not be the top school for football contenders, but man did our guy have a heck of an arm. An all-around athlete, Pat made our football seasons some of the best and led us to victory countless times. His hard work and determination on and off the field proved strong as Kansas City picked him up to be their next QB.

To Pat, you did it. You made it. And we're all so proud. Raiderland will be eagerly waiting to see you shine up north. And to Kansas City: man, did you just gain a hell of a fanbase.
